Abrasion Resistance
the ability to withstand the effects of repeated wearing, rubbing, scrapping, etc.
ABS
Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene. Rigid black plastic pipe used for Drain, waste, and vent lines
Absolute Filter Rating
Filter rating meaning that 99.9 % (or essentially all) of the particles larger than a specified micron rating will be trapped on or within the filter.
Absolute pressure
Atmospheric pressure added to gauge pressure.
Absorption
The process in which one substance penetrates into the body of another substance, termed the absorbent. An example is the absorption of water into soil.
Absorption Field
A leeching or seeping field engineered to receive septic tank effluent.
AC
Alternating current. Electrical supply in which polarity of wire. Reverses rapidly (e.g. 60 cps)
Acceptance Factor
Bladder tank drawdown expressed in percentage.
Access Panel
Covered opening in a wall or ceiling near a fixture that allows access for servicing a plumbing or electric system.
Acid
